A woman has died after being hit by a car near Mount Dennis.

Police were called to the area of Eglinton Ave. W. and Weston Rd. after they received a call about a woman who had been hit while crossing the street just after 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Paramedics arrived to the scene where they found the woman with life-threatening injuries, and rushed her to hospital.

Const. Clint Stibbe of Toronto police confirmed that she died shortly after.

The intersection remained closed following the incident, but has since reopened.
